With spring just around the corner, maybe you’re looking for inexpensive upgrades that you can make to your home to give it a little facelift, without much of an investment. Below are some great minor changes that can boost the look of your home, you can view the entire link HERE.
- Change out cabinet hardware – this can give your kitchen a fresh look for under $100
- Paint the front door – Renew the look of the front of your house for only $50-$80. Choose a bold blue or rustic red to really draw attention.
- Clean up your water – Spend around $300 for a good quality under-sink reverse osmosis system
- Paint an accent wall – Add a pop of color to a living room or a bedroom for approximately $50
- Build a raised flower bed – Boost your curb appeal for $200 or less. Plant perennials along with annuals for a bright splash of color.
- Upgrade your mailbox – For under $100, you can purchase a new curbside mailbox, or a trendy new version to mount on your house.
- Trade up to a keyless entry – No more forgetting which key is the main one to your house …. install keyless entry for less than $300.
- Show off with shutters – Give the front of your home a visual boost with shutters in shades that complement the color of your home
- Plank a wall with shiplap – Cover one more more interior walls with shiplap for less than $100
- Add outdoor accent lighting – For less than $100, install outdoor accent lights to light up walkways, plans, and the front of your home.
- Refurbish stairs with carpet treads – If your stairs are showing their age, an option before refinishing (time consuming and messy) is adding carpet treads for under $200. These will also help minimize slips and falls.
- Add classic style with crown molding – Crown molding adds a classic feel to any room and can add character to any room for $4-$8 per linear foot
- Vent a steamy bathroom – Unvented bathrooms can lead to mold, peeling paint, and warped cabinetry. Install a vent for around $100 to keep your bathroom clean and healthy.
- Switch to a programmable thermostat – Program your heat and air around your schedule to save some money for less than $50
- Replace old draperies – Another way to change the look of a room is by updating your draperies for around $150 per window
- Dim the lights – For less than $20, you can add dimmer switches to control the intensity of your light. Bump up to $50 to upgrade to a smart dimmer switch that connects to your home network
- Install new house numbers – For only $10-$15 a piece, replace old, worn house numbers with black iron, brass or nickel numbers. For around $100, a custom address plaque can be created
- Paint old vinyl flooring – If your vinyl or laminate flooring is showing wear, paint it! For around $200 you can buy flooring enamel and an acrylic sealer to apply over the floor when you’re done painting. Checkerboards are popular, but stripes or other designs can also provide a fun look.
- Frame your TV – Camouflage a less-than-attractive tv by framing it just as you would a photo or painting. You can purchase molding for $1-$10 per linear foot. Connect your tv to your network and display your family photos as a slideshow as an extra splash of fun!
