Today I want to introduce myself, the one that writes all of these blogs, Gina Shuppert. I get to stay on top of the website, work on marketing materials, help with marketing events and signs …. Most of the visual things you see. I met Tom and Sara years ago when I took their photos. They are just the coolest!! 🙂

How long have you worked at Joyner Homes?
Since February 2019 – I’m one of the babies here.

What do you do at JH?
Marketing Specialist – I do blog posts, brochures, flyers, newspaper ads, keep website looking nice, etc.

If you could switch jobs with someone in Joyner Homes, who would it be? Why?
Sandy — She gets to direct the large scale picture into specifics. I listen to her doing her thing, and I’m amazed that she can have the ability to envision the final outcome.

What 3 words would you use to describe Joyner Homes?
Fun, Unique, Awesome

What do you do when you’re not at work?
Try my best to keep the house in order, run kids around, go for a run, take photos as my side gig, yell at the kids to pick up their shoes.

What random facts can you share with us?
I’ve had 12 teeth pulled. Braces 3 times.

Are you messy or organized?
I’m constantly making lists and piles to go through … sometimes get to them. But my life in general, I feel is mostly organized. You have to be with kids’ schedules!

What’s your favorite outside activity?
Watching any of my kids participate in their sport. Olive is a great swimmer, Harp loves football, and Jaeda runs XC and plays basketball, when she’s not broken 🙂 I also like to go for a run to alleviate stress and decompress, it’s kinda my therapy.

If you could change something about today’s youth, what would it be? Alternately, what excites you about today’s young generation?

I think today’s youth is just like yesterday’s youth, except with a device in their hands. I would and do tell them to know when to stop and how to maneuver this constant madness with respect and tact. I’m excited that today’s generation seems to be eager to speak their mind and work hard for what they want, and although I don’t like the constant contact, this generation has technology down pretty well.

What would you tell your 13-year old self?
Don’t let other’s opinions affect you.  No one looks back at middle school and wants to go back. Some days are awful and life gets so much better! Eyes forward!

How do you define success?
Success for me is waking up each day without a brick on my shoulders weighing me down. I feel successful right now. I have 2 jobs that I enjoy and 3 kids that are thriving.

I hope you are enjoying our member spotlight! We’re nearing the end of this little project ….. just a few more!! In the meantime, you can see and read more about who we are HERE.
