The Fireside Retreat – 06/30/13
June 30, 2013    POSTED IN  Home

This is a post in a series following construction of this home. If you would like to see the construction of this home from the ground up, just start here!

When we left off last time, we had framed and sided the house. Next up inside will be drywall and finishes, while the outside gets stone and paint!

Here is the foyer and the staircase that was mentioned in the previous post.

When you turn around and stand in the foyer, here is your view.

Another shot of the great room.

This is the view looking into the kitchen and hearth room.

Another view of the kitchen out to the great room.

This is one of the upstairs bedrooms with built in bookcases.

The fireplace will get a big, hand-scraped mantle.

Trim for the stairway is next.

Back outside, paint is started.

Here is a view from the back of the house (pre-paint).

Cedar trusses are stained.

Concrete is poured for the front porch.

After the interior trim is finished, painting begins on the inside as well.

The walls get primed first and then the trim gets stained.

A built-in for the mudroom…

A more complete view of the built-in bookcases in the upstairs bedroom.

The fireplaces receive stone and their mantles.

Meanwhile, back outside, the rest of the house is painted and stone is installed.

Starting to really come together!
