Cooking a homemade meal in your kitchen for your loved ones can be extremely beneficial for a plethora of reasons. Food brings people together and cooking homemade meals can unite family and friends. Invite your partner, kids, extended family, friends, etc., to help assist you in the kitchen to make it enjoyable and save time. Cooking with others is a wonderful way to share food ideas, save money, time, energy, and stay healthy. 

Staying healthy doesn’t have to mean cooking all healthy meals. Commercially prepared foods tend to be high in ingredients such as fat, sugar, salt, and high in calories. Cooking homemade meals in your kitchen allows you to know exactly what ingredients you are consuming. Cooking in your kitchen allows you to be in control! But don’t get me wrong, eating home-cooked meals regularly doesn’t mean you have to cook every day or never treat yourself to a night out. Give yourself a break by cooking larger portions of every meal you make so you can keep leftovers to reheat.

Try these ingredients for your next home-cooked meal:

Loaded Chili:

  • Brown 1 pound lean ground beef and add in the following ingredients to simmer :
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 can Tomato sauce
  • 1 can chili beans
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 packet chili seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Might need to add water if too thick

Add some of my favorite toppings if desired: shredded cheese, sour cream, oyster crackers, diced avocado
